Alright, let's talk about the future of the golf course.
For too long, we've accepted the same old limitations. You stand on the tee, you pull out your little rangefinder, and you get a number. One number. One data point. It tells you the distance, but it tells you nothing else. It’s a tool, yes, but it’s a tool that isolates you from the very environment you're trying to master.
What if we could change that? What if we could take the same principles that guide us through a city and apply them to the green? What if we could stop looking down at a screen and start looking through it?
That’s what we've been working on.
Recently, our CEO, Si Brown, was a guest at The Tytherington Club. A beautiful course, a fantastic facility, a place dedicated to helping you find your 'YOU place'. The irony, of course, is that the tools we've been using to find our way around a course often create a barrier to that very experience.
Si and Club Director Ian Shoreman, along with a promising golfer named Sam Burton, played a round on the hottest day of the year. They used the standard tools—rangefinders, wearables, and GPS maps. They got their numbers. But Si knew there was a better way.
Following FAR's recent POC and lie testing with the DP World Tour, we had a chance to show them a glimpse of the future. We didn't just give them direction. We gave them an experience.
We provided a full interactive environment. Imagine looking at the course through a device, and instead of a flat map, you see 'Augmented Reality' locators hovering over the fairway. Not just showing the distance to the pin, but showing the path, identifying key amenities, and even linking directly to the pro shop for that new putter you've been eyeing.
This wasn't a complex, multi-million dollar installation. It was a simple, live demonstration. And that's the key. This technology isn't just for championship courses. It's for every course. From your local municipal to your private club to the hallowed grounds of a major tournament. The experience is the same. It's consistent, intuitive, and tailored to the unique layout of each course.
We took away the friction. We removed the guesswork. We allowed the players to be fully present in their game, not distracted by a clunky interface. The last thing they needed to do was find the 19th hole to escape the heat. They didn't have to pull out a map for that either; our system had it identified and located perfectly.
This is more than just a new gadget or an app on your smartphone. It's a new way of interacting with the game. It's about bringing a level of insight and simplicity that has never existed before. It's about making the game more intuitive, more enjoyable, and more connected, whether you are playing or watching.
This is the next evolution of golf. This is FAR.
